The Capital Governorate is considered one of the key partners to the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Bahrain. The foundation of this partnership is the joint endeavor to support the various development programmes and community initiatives at the Governorate to be geared towards the achievement of the sustainable development goals.
Partnership with UN
These programmes and initiatives focus on addressing a range of challenges with a special emphasis on youth, volunteerism, persons with special needs and civic engagement.
The Office of the UN Resident Coordinator also acts as a connector to bring other United Nations agencies and programmes to participate and support the Capital Governorate in the various initiatives. As a result of this partnership, in 2020, the UN in Bahrain was able to reach to a wider audience base to participate in the UN75 global dialogue, and also marked International Youth Day by bringing together prominent youth groups in Bahrain to discuss current issues and obstacles for youth under the Covid-19 pandemic.
