The Capital Governorate has organized a clean-up campaign at the Al-Seef District, marking the World Cities Day, themed "Act Local to Go Global".

Nearly 450 volunteers, the signatories of the "Capital Governorate Document for Voluntary Work", participated in the event that was held at the coasts of the Seef District.  

Commenting, Director of Information and Follow-up, Yousif Yaqoob Lori, stressed the Capital Governorate’s keenness to take advantage of the global event to deliver its message about the importance of preserving the environment and community health, in line with the "Manama Healthy City" programme, adopted by the governorate in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, the World Health Organsiation and the "Green Capital" project in order to enhance individual health, as well as raise community awareness of the environment and the need to preserve it.

He indicated added that the Capital Governorate supports projects aimed at increasing public awareness of marine life issues in the Kingdom, in general, and Manama, in particular, in order to achieve the objectives of instilling a culture of volunteerism and promoting social responsibility among members of the community.
